Kid View: Smile by Raina Telgemier (Smile series, book #1)

A True Story

Raina writes a graphic novel for ages 10 and up about her experiences going from middle school to high school. Though I don’t usually care for books about people’s lives, this graphic novel was totally incredible! Five stars!
first page of Smile
With great graphics to go along with the story, Smile is a very engaging read for middle grades readers. I remember when I was reading this book for the first time (I have read it twice), I read it non-stop for about two hours. I also remember spending a lot of time looking at the pictures because they were so realistic and cool.šŸ˜‰
Smile page 8 - 9 the accident
Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader, but after a horrible accident one night after girl scouts. She injures her front two teeth badly.
Smile page 24 - 25
That night resulting to a long annoying three years of visiting the orthodontist and getting braces, a retainer with fake teeth attache to them, rubber bands from top to bottom, root canal, and a bunch of other frustrating appliances.

And friends that turned out to be not very great friends….

about Xavier

Hi my name is Xavier, my mom and I started this site when I was ten (Iā€™m thirteen now). I began working on this site because I love to read so much and I always give my friends ideas for books they should read. Click here to see a list of my favorites books. Most of my days are spent at school, on the bus, or doing homework. When I find a little down time I like to draw, listen to music, sing, play ukulele or bass guitar.
