It’s been two years since Peter Nimble and Sir Tode rescued the kingdom of HazelPort. But don't worry, they've been keeping themselves very busy with adventures. Now Peter and Sir Tode have been summoned by Professor Cake for a new mission: find a 12-year-old girl named Sophie Quire.
Sophie knows little beyond her father’s bookshop, where she works as a bookmender and dreams of leaving the confines of her city walls. But when a strange blind boy and his talking cat/horse companion show up searching for a rare and mysterious book, she finds herself thrown head first into a dangerous adventure to find four sacred books to save basically the entire world, magic or not.
Review
I absolutely loved this book! Though it was not as great as the first one, but it was still very good! Personally my favorite character is Sophie because she is always very brave and she believes in herself (sorry, Sir Tode! Your still my favorite of Peter Nimble).
Sophie Quire and the Last Storyguard, is an amazing book about a girl named Sophie Quire who needs to find all four sacred magical books before it is too late. With help from her friends, Peter Nimble and the talking cat/horse, Sir Tode, Sophie embarks on a very dangerous journey to find the books before it’s too late. It’s a fantasy and adventure novel that will grab any reader and throw them head first into the book. This book is the second and I’m pretty sure, last in the Peter Nimble series. I like how they let Peter and Sir Tode back into the book, but from Sophie’s perspective which makes them not the center of all the action and everything. Basically the entire book is based in a non-realistic fantastical world, where tons of crazy things are possible, from prye days where they burn storybooks (known as nonsense to everyone) to talking cat/horses to magical books to giant fire monsters, everything lets your imagination roam free. This book could be described as so many different things because it is very hilarious, mysterious, and suspenseful at the same time! Love this book!
Jonathan Auxier‘s writing style is very suspenseful and action-packed that will make your heart thump and your mind race about what will happen next. I love his ability to tell any story and still make it interesting for all readers. Also if you have never checked out his website, you really should! It’s called thescop.com and it has some interesting things, but if you go to the about page you will come to a page that has a photo of Jonathan Auxier. Then once you are there you can pick different themes for the picture and it will change! It’s the best part of the entire site! Anyway, as I was saying, Auxier’s books have been so great so far and I really hope he writes more middle grade novels.
